Dislikeable main character

The main character Dee was unbearable! I think a humorous cheesy approach would have sold alot better than a forced story about a relationship. I was routing for main character to die all the way through I don't understand as she came across as a minipulative bully. Just my opinion but I thought it came off in the really wrong way how she basically forced the other girl to be in a relationship with her. She basically bullied her and nearly killed her because she moved half an hour away.... It didn't make sense. Its a shame they killed off Kate and the guy as they was only just about bareable. It felt rushed and lacked humour. The songs all crammed in was also random I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to play a different song every 5mins. Also we didn't see the dad and the whole town/mall seemed to be empty the whole time.....?! Didn't make sense so many plot holes.

Had no idea about this movie, upon seeing it as an option on Netflix I was very excited to watch on a dark, stormy, Friday night.

Almost all characters are over the top unrealistic, annoying, and unlikable. Especially the main character, Deena. She spends the entire movie criticizing, yelling, and arguing with everyone. Not even halfway in and I was rooting against her. Overall the characters for the most part do nothing to make you care whether they survive.

It's not insanely woke but they definitely inject overarching sociopolitical commentary throughout the entire movie. This doesn't destroy the movie, but definitely doesn't do it any favors.

After all said and done I was just completely let down, especially after the stylized complete "Scream" intro rip off that promised a slasher littered with 90s nostalgia. Disappointing.

Insufferably cynical

It takes less than twenty minutes for this movie to rattle off every millennial's basic childhood pop rock playlist. I'm not kidding-in twenty minutes I counted eight 90s songs used. Eight songs in twenty minutes, meaning the film will transition from playing Cypress Hill to Radiohead with as little rhyme or reason as someone just flicking through radio stations. This isn't nostalgia; it's cheap, it's cynical, and it's irritating, especially when it's the only thing the film gets even remotely right about the time period it's meant to take place in. Top it off with some seriously unlikable characters and it all makes for a film that felt like a rough 100 something minutes to sit through.
